Put Your Money Where your Mouth Is

I am pro life and anti federal government. As such, I see my role as supporting programs that encourage mothers choosing to have their babies in most circumstances. I am opposed to Roe vs. Wade for the same reason as Justice Scalia, it was an assault on states rights, however I do not think it should be repealed. As offensive as it is to the Constitution and my sensibilities, forty years of roots is costly to undo and we have bigger fish to fry.

Personally, I feel there are circumstances where a ‘get out of jail free’ card would apply, but how do you legislate that? It would be lovely if the commerce clause could limit the practitioners and profit of abortionists, but sadly it just does not apply. Remove the profit, and find a board certified ob-gyn willing to perform one might go a long way to keeping them safe, legal and rare as opposed to safe legal and rampant.

The Right gets millions and millions and millions and untold more from Pro Life groups dedicated to electing pro life candidates to Capital Hill to effect change. Yet there is none, nor do I believe these candidates want any.

The Left gets the same millions and millions and millions and untold more from pro choice groups to elect pro choice candidates dedicated to keep the 40 year old Roe V Wade a law with infinitesimal to none chance of being repealed, from just that. Nor do many of these candidates want to effect a rock solid solution to ensure it never will. Why? Because both sides count on the money to run their election campaigns and the rhetoric to jinn up their bases, and every last one of them, on both sides just make me sick.

Meanwhile women keep fighting with each other, teenagers get venereal diseases and pregnant and are subjecting themselves to substandard care to ward off their parents, or in some cases, because the state is “protecting” them from their parents.

Women of all ages are getting abortions because they feel they have no options, our government gives us anything we want to prevent or kill a baby, is there really nothing left for one on the way?

To my fellow pro-lifers, who attend protests, would you put down the sign and offer instead to rock a baby to sleep so his 19-year-old mother could sleep before that final exam the next day if you knew where to go?

What if, all this money went to programs? What if all that pro life money went to help a woman facing a difficult choice, I want my baby, but I want to go to college, what if we had that unlimited pool of money from which to offer assistance so she could do both? How many babies would be saved?

What if all the pro-choice money went to birth control and education? How many sexually transmitted diseases could we prevent and treat? How many unplanned pregnancies could we stop?

In many states, one cannot take out the tonsils of a child under the age of 18 without parental consent and these same parents can deny pain medication for religious purposes for a child needing stitches. Yet, this same underage child can get an abortion behind the backs of these very same parents?

Both sides can make an effective argument as to why and why not this is terrible or wonderful. But what if instead, all this candidate money went to a bipartisan program inserted in a mandatory health class already required in most high school curriculums with an outreach to parents on the merits of both sides? Could we not greatly reduce the amount of children having medical procedures performed upon them without parental consent, lest they be forced to carry and bear their own baby sibling?

What if we kept throwing this money at the problems? Eventually our backsides would collide because lo and behold, we have met in the middle. And think of all the good that could come from that.

While John Boehner was carrying water for POTUS on This Week, Fox News Sunday (3/17/13) was not to be outdone overseeing a grudge match between FreedomWorks CEO Matt Kibbe and Steve LaTourette, a former congressman from Ohio who know heads up The Republican Mainstream Partnership. The latter would be more aptly name LaTourette Syndrome based on the constant twitch of his smarmy patronizing facial expressions and gesticulations as he disparaged Kibbe who maintained a Clint Eastwood level of cool throughout.

LaTourette Syndrome has permeated the crumbling GOP establishment leaving conservatives cold and disinterested. I myself am having trouble not changing my party affiliation to independent just to make a point such was the bitter bite of LaTourette’s misogynist, racist message. This barnacle refers to Tea Party supported members of congress as “chuckleheads.”

Literally pointing the finger, (not the same one I had up at that point) at a cool, calm and composed Kibbe, he curled his lip and said “They brought us Harry Reid as the majority leader,” citing media smeared conservatives such as Sharron Angle, Richard Mourdock as well as “I always forget her name, the witch in Delaware,” said Latourette, to which talking head turned chucklehead Chris Wallace giggled and chimed in; “Christine O’Donnell.”

Grab a barf bag and watch the entire clip here

Fox News Sunday

Hey Charlie Christ, you forgot something on your way out the door, come pick up LaTourette and take Karl Rove with you. Both of  whom are ready to roll up the sleeves of their blue shirts and take their cues from the Democratic party and abandon principle for victory.

Prompted by Wallace, Rove tees off on Sarah on several points ostensibly to get back at her for a comment she made during her brilliant speech at CPAC. Trouble is, Palin never named Rove by name.

LaTourette syndrome continued to spread. “Everyone agrees legitimate rape was stupid, and if there is a child out of rape that is what G-d intended, “ said Wallace.  Gee Mr. “I’m not a journalist, I just play one on TV” Wallace, that might have been a good time to toss in some far more recent Democratic rape gaffs on the fair and balanced network.

Last point for Chris Wallace, if you are going to wag your finger in Mitt Romney’s face about his dogs’ accommodations where the dog didn’t die, don’t use phrases like “You’ve got a dog in this fight”, as you did when pivoting to Karl Rove on PACS and primaries. In the absence of the fair and balanced facts, feel free to rely on rhetoric but a “dog in the race” works equally well.

Your welcome. My bill is in the mail and I won’t hold my breath. For anything.

Smith & Wesson, Don’t Leave Home Without it

Sadly, through no fault of her own, Amanda Collins is both the poster child and role model for gun control and rape survivors. As a college student she was unable to bring her gun onto the campus and it was left at home the night of her rape. Collins was testifying before the Colorado state senate as they seek to trade guns for whistles and bodily fluids. She was inspired to speak out by Colorado lawmakers assault on gun rights and her bravery compels me to do the same.

Gun control is woman control. It’s population control, it’s another step towards total enslavement and control of our guns must never be surrendered to the state for federal government. Our forefathers built an entire nation and sacrificed their lives upon this principle and who are we to tear this down?

Certainly not sneering Liberalholic Bob Beckel who scoffed at the notion of rapes on campus and later rolled his eyes at the thought of shooting ones date. Why would shooting your date be any worse than being pinned down, having a thumb jammed on your neck so you cannot breath or scream while he slams away at you leaving you feeling stabbed?  And all of it taking place mere yards from your family or dorm residents with either his thumb or your shame preventing you from crying out. Yes Bob Beckel, some dates do need to be shot, and some commentators need to be shot down.

Nor should clueless state senator Evie Hudek who admonished Collins that her attackers superior size not only mitigated her being a taekwondo “person” but would have resulted in her gun being taken away from her as well. Hudek’s ignorance knows no bounds including taekwondo and firearms. As Collins pointed out, the hulking Hudek wasn’t there and doesn’t know if a firearm would have been effective.

Republicans lost a winnable election by getting tangled in the myriad definitions of rape, gleefully reported in all media outlets but now all but the non-Fox media is strangely silent. Politicians of both stripes are getting tangled in these weeds but only Republicans are the ones getting choked off.

I am a conservative woman who believes in personal responsibility and who as a teenager was legitimately, date rape-raped or otherwise euphemism’d in those weeds. I assure you, my own bad choice landed me there but that in no way mitigates the crime committed that day. I made a mistake. He made a felony.

Letting him in the house when he wasn’t supposed to be is not much different than turning up the wrong street, or being a Good Samaritan by letting someone use your phone.  No means no, get off means get off and yes Bob Beckel, date rape on campus is rampant and deadly force can and should be used to stop any and all types of rape.  He was almost a foot taller than me and had a good 70 pounds on me. No amount of pee or puke was going to stop that.

I don’t know if being raped by a stranger in an alley is better or worse than being raped by someone who professes to love you. Or, it if it’s fair for women who are vigilant in guarding their bodies, and their drinks in bars must now guard firearms in their handbags. But I do know it is unconstitutional to tell them they may not have that firearm or that it is wise to cede to government to guardianship of their bodies, as they not have not done a very good job with that well regulated and overly taxed drink.

I am not suggesting that all women arm themselves, it is my contention that we have the choice under the second amendment to carry or not. But to rob us of the choice just makes it easier for the rapist and the Government to achieve total control.

Word!

The Belle Jar

1. Assume that you are loved.

2. Assume that those who love you find some kind of value in you and the things you do.

3. Assume, however, that you don’t need to be valuable in order to be worthy of love.

4. Assume that there is no one out there keeping a tally of all of your failings, ready to throw it in your face when you’re either feeling too good or too awful about yourself.

5. Assume that if anyone actually is keeping a tally of all your failings, that act says more about them than it does about you.

6. Assume that you can’t make all of the people happy all of the time; maybe not even some of the people some of the time.

7. Assume that you will, over the course of your life, sometimes anger or disappoint the people you love.

8. Assume that…
