Gay Marriage, Kim Davis

Right out of the gate, he says this… “The gathering of Davis’ supporters and their anti-American signs are no different from the “Death to America” rallies we see in some foreign countries.”

When one spouts that vituperative , all credibility is lost. I have never heard once of a christian conservative who has wished death upon anyone like Iranians wish upon us.

The Islamic convert then goes on to bash American Christians..√  I can’t be the only one who sees the irony there.

Jabbar then goes on to cite several non-relevant examples of when your religion cannot supercede your job. Most laughable? “The Christian Scientist clerk at the IRS cannot audit your taxes because you chose medical help.”

True, but apparently IRS directors can target Conservatives with impunity and get paid leave, not jail.

Abdul-Jabbar’s stunning lack of understanding of the constitution continues. The 1st amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Congress making no law respecting the establishment of religion leaves it wide open to the states to do so. Marriage is a contract. The states have an obligation to enforce a contract. When they allow priests, ministers, rabbis, etc to execute a contract, they clearly are exercising their freedom with regard to the widely misunderstood “Separation of Church and State”.

However, the 14th amendment assuring the right of equal protection prevents the states from enforcing the contracts of some people rather than other people. Why is this so hard to understand? Kim Davis should have resigned, not be thrown in jail. The state of Kentucky has a process for recall elections, impeachment and amending their own state laws and must adhere to that despite what an activist Supreme Court of the United States says.

The facts of the case are this,

But facts, schmacts. At this point, what difference does it make?
